2013 DCCA Partnership

Greetings Scholars & Families!

Our 4th grade students have been having an amazing time with our artist from DCCA.  The DCCA presents a variety of educational and outreach programs, gallery tours and programs that integrate contemporary arts into the public school curriculum, and artists residencies that feature collaboration with underserved community groups.   The DCCA is housed in a renovated industrial building in the heart of the rejuvenated Wilmington Riverfront.

Jen, our DCCA artist, has been working with our 4th graders for the last few weeks.  She comes in every Friday morning to teach us the joy of Math through art.  We have incorporated some of our Math Common Core Standards into our project we have been working on during our art lessons.  The students are experiencing how art can be translated into the real world and how even in art there is math at work.  At the end of the month we will have an opportunity to visit the DCCA and take a tour of the museum to see some AMAZING work from other artists.  Here is a slideshow of photos from our experience with Jenn this year.

We are also sad that Jane, from the DCCA, will be leaving the DCCA.  We were excited to have her come out one last time to work with our students at Bancroft.  We even were able to take some photographs with her.  We thank her for all she has done for our students at Bancroft and wish her the best of luck.
